So I'm playing a circle of the moon druid (lvl6) and was bitten by a werebear. The DM said it was up to me if I wanted to be cured by a town person ( we are based out of a very large magical focused city ) or go with the lycanthrope. my character is all about nature and is interested in becoming a werebear. How does the lycanthrope affect? I am force shape changed during full moons I would assume but can I still wildshape? do I gain the damage bonus is my wild shaped forms? do I keep the damage resist (or immunity it doesn't look clear whether you are immune to non-magical damage or resistant) in my wildshape? I'm very interested in being a werebear but just really unsure how the stats would be affected.
These are all questions you should ask your DM. No matter what answers you get here, your table might handle it differently.
Thst said, if you’re interested , more specifically if your character would be interested, go for it. The character won’t know if his wisdom score will change, he’ll just know if he wants to do this or not. A Druid might actually have some idea of what’s in store, so a bit of meta-gaming is reasonable as, basically a reflection of what they would know. But if just the idea of it sounds cool to you , do it.
If your DM wanted you to know the details, they would've told you. I think you should focus more on what this means to your character. Lycanthropy is a curse, and I'd expect most non-evil druids to treat it as a blight that should be removed from the world. If you choose to keep it, that could affect your druid's relationship to their druid circle.
