I'm a DM considering using the Epic Heroism resting variant found on page 267 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. In a nutshell: Short Rests become 5 minutes, and Long Rests are only an hour. However, when using this rule variant, do adventurers still only benefit from just one Long Rest rest a day as stated in the Player's Handbook (page 186)? Or is this left up to the DM's interpretation?
Also, does anybody have any experiences with this rule variant you'd like to share, if you used it during a campaign? Did everything work out or did it break the game?
Oh hey look at that, WotC missed a detail in a rule. If I had a dollar for every time they did that I could give away legendary bundles.
Snark aside. Yeah, looks like they didn't specifically allow that with epic heroism option. Rhe DM is always the final arbiter on rules, even more so when the rules are basically official house rules.
