I was looking over the new summoning spells when i saw they did not have any Save proficiencies or skills, it lists they got a profixiency bounus equal to the caster but it does not list what they use it for.
It's mainly there for completeness. The rules assume every creature has a proficiency bonus, so if it needs to make an unarmed strike for some reason or some feature gives it new proficiencies, you need to know what number to use.

so the new spells fold in the face of anything with a spell dc or doing anything out side of combat.... great... just about useless then, i better off summoning real devils then any of them.
Most monsters lack saving throw proficiencies and many only have 1 or 2 skill proficiencies (usually stealth or perception.) There's even less reason to give these proficiencies to a temporary creature.
You're not better off using other summoning spells in a fight because the alternatives take a minute to cast.
hmm, your right about that, i was limited to devils for so long that i got used to them having skills and saves.
true i would not want to use others mid combat but they work well if you got time before hand, maybe Summon Fey could work well or Undead if i had to if i needed more backup mid fight, they got some stats that could help them vs saves.
