What are your thoughts on kalashtar mind link, and circle of shepherd speech of the woods.
Would you rule that you can telepathically communicate to beasts.
Since beasts can understand your speech, shouldn't you be able to project that speech into the beasts mind?
Like a bird hears a whistle in it's head they know to mean "how are you" then the bird whistles back out loud (because I don't think a beast would know they can speak telepathically back) and says "I'm good"
Thoughts? Would love if this mechanically synergized.
For reference.
Mind Link
You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see, provided the creature is within a number of feet of you equal to 10 times your level. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.
When you’re using this trait to speak telepathically to a creature, you can use your action to give that creature the ability to speak telepathically with you for 1 hour or until you end this effect as an action. To use this ability, the creature must be able to see you and must be within this trait’s range. You can give this ability to only one creature at a time; giving it to a creature takes it away from another creature who has it.
Speech of the Woods
At 2nd level, you gain the ability to converse with beasts and many fey.
You learn to speak, read, and write Sylvan. In addition, beasts can understand your speech, and you gain the ability to decipher their noises and motions. Most beasts lack the intelligence to convey or understand sophisticated concepts, but a friendly beast could relay what it has seen or heard in the recent past. This ability doesn’t grant you any special friendship with beasts, though you can combine this ability with gifts to curry favor with them as you would with any nonplayer character.
Generally speaking, something understands a language only if it is listed in the Languages section of the stat block.
That being said, in this instance I would allow the mind link to work, but still otherwise restricted to the conditions listed in Speech of the Woods (i.e. beasts can understand your [mental] speech, and you gain the ability to decipher their [mental] noises and motions. Most beasts lack the intelligence to convey or understand sophisticated concepts, but a friendly beast could relay what it has seen or heard in the recent past)

Hmm. This is a tricky one and I can see DMs ruling differently depending on their interpretation.
It basically comes down to these 2 lines:
Technically, the beasts still may not understand any languages, but instead only understand you.
A lenient DM may go with rule of cool and allow it. I am uncertain personally.
