So I have a pacifist cleric in my party after a night of playing and having a few drinks he says "wait I can do the trip action I'm not hurting them and I'm still helping you guys." Now on DDB, there is nothing about this action I haven't hit the actual books yet but I figured the experienced community could help me. :) No one checked at the time, it seemed possible, but suddenly everyone is wondering why we haven't ever heard of this before if anyone could answer this it would be great!
Breeze, the Air Genasi Rogue in G.M.O.A.T.S sunless citadel Guldrum, the Dwarf Barbarian in Ye ol' Yarn Spun Legend Baku, the Tortle Bloodhunter in Coliseum of Conquest
I haven't seen it anywhere, but I think it would be a simple dexterity challenge. Roll d20, add dex modifiers (probably with acrobatics proficiency if applicable) and the highest wins. If the PC succeeds then the monster is prone.

Here you go:
Shoving a Creature
Using the Attack action, you can make a special melee attack to shove a creature, either to knock it prone or push it away from you. If you're able to make multiple attacks with the Attack action, this attack replaces one of them.
The target must be no more than one size larger than you and must be within your reach. Instead of making an attack roll, you make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). If you win the contest, you either knock the target prone or push it 5 feet away from you.
