Alrighty just looking for some voices on my options here. DM pregen sorcerer Lvl 9 heading into lvl 10, thematically the healer with a temper tantrum of 5th lvl Immolation spell. Subtle and Twinned Metamagic currently.
I'm considering a dip in something for versatility(bard, wiz, warlock) OR looking for some advice on Metamagic choice next lvl (distant for the touch range extention?) and your go-to spells. My DM set me up with Cure and Inflict wounds 1st, Detect Thoughts and Lesser Restoration at 2nd, nothing but upcast of Cure/Inflict between 3rd and 4th, then loaded me with 5th spells and just the 1 slot.
Any spell cast over 3rd level is a con sav to stay conscious. Looking for advice on lower level spells with upcasting, as I level up. For both RP and battle.
You get medium armor and a shield as well as the spells.
If you go level 10 sorc swap cure wounds for healing word. It's just much better especially if you have twin spell so you can hit who you need to in battle.
Empower spell is my personal favorite since it allows you to drop some huge aoe damage for just 1 point
Hmm no Mage Armor and no Shield spell? That's pretty rough. For defenses your best bet is Hexblade Warlock as mentioned by Bodanger for the armor and the Shield spell.
However if you wish to proceed with Sorcerer I would grab Mage Armor and replace 1 of the 5th level spells with the Shield spell. A sorcerer without Mage Armor and/or the Shield spell is too easy to hit at around level 10 and should be your first priority to remedy.
If you have the MAD stats for it, Wizard is always the most powerful option. Pick up utility and non-save/attack spells as a Wizard while getting full progression.
If you can multiclass at all then Warlock and Bard are always available.
Bard is going to scale your spells better and you can get eloquence to make saves tougher.
Warlock will give you invocations. Hexblade does give you the shield spell but I am not a fan of Hexblade unless you want to be a Gish. I think Genie, Undead, Fiend or Fey are better on a caster.

You mentioned something about healing, if you want to go down that route, then cleric is a good option.
BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!

What subclass are you and what are your stats?
