I have an idea for a Divine Soul Sorcerer. I was thinking that he has an unknown evil ancestry, he is not evil himself though - I think that opens up for some interesting role play.
So his story is that some evil cult needs him for some kind of ritual, because of his divine soul. They got a hold of him as a baby and started the ritual but was interupted and the cultists was attacked by a cleric. The cleric didn't find it in him to just leave the baby (or kill him? Would he sense the evil origin?) so he took the baby to a monestary and leftvhim to be raised and protected by the acolyte elder (what do you call him?).
Now my question is, what god could the cleric and acolyte belong to? What would make sense, in that they perhaps knows about the divine evil source but chooses to let him live and be a part of their faith?
As the group has a cleric of Lathander and one cleric of Oghma I would like to avoid their faith
Religions are based on setting. I barely know any of the forgotten realms religions, but you can find a bit about the gods of toril in the DMG and SCAG.
Mechanically, there is nothing to give away the child's ancestry until his magic manifests, and even then it wouldn't be specific only give a hint. Narratively, his ancestry could be revealed by divine revelation.

For the cleric that found the baby or the acolyte, my first guess would've been Lathander, but if you are trying to avoid that which I don't blame you cause one of my fellow players is always a worshiper of Lathander regardless if he's a paladin, cleric, or even just a fighter. With that said, they could've been a part of the triad (Tyr, Torm, Ilmater) or Helm. For this situation I would say, the cleric that found the child could've been a cleric of Helm or Torm; the Acolyte could be a part of Ilmater.
There is a long-standing rivalry between the god of evil, Bane, and the goddess of magic, Mystra, whom Bane loathes for her power over the arcane.
I'd wager that having a Divine Soul with ties to the ultimate god of evil would be troubling, and be VERY fun to roleplay.
The cleric could be either an Arcana, Light or Life cleric of Mystra...and given the young sorcerers predisposition for magic, and Arcana cleric would have a keen interest in the child, and make the most sense for Mystra.
Alternatively, Vecna, while not quite a god of pure evil (more of necromancy, magic & secrets), is just as wicked and vile as Bane, and would likely make for a proper heritage. Honestly, Mystra would again make for a good patron deity for the cleric, as Mystra represents magic being used for benevolent purposes, and Vecna represents magic used for greed and power.
You might also consider looking into deities from the old Greyhawk setting, ancient Egyptian gods, Viking gods, etc. Their names are in the back of the Player's Handbook, then Internet search for the specifics.
