I know that I just made a thread like this for wizards in the Wizards thread, I swear i'm not just trying to start problems. I just feel like they generally aren't strong or versatile, and I don't think the really get much compensation for that (and no, a bunch of cantrips are not compensation)
I think you seem to just have a problem with spellcasters because you seem to think it's all about health and DPS in combat.
It's ok. Spellcasters aren't for everyone. Go swing your bit of mettle, we'll just be over here healing people, raising the dead, reducing towns to ashes with a wave of the hand or just be rewriting reality because we feel whimsical (all are things some Sorcerers can do, by the way).
Like Wizards, the Sorcerer starts off very weak at lower levels but grows in power as they level up. In the case of Sorcerers, their powers are not just limited in the spells they know but the added benefits that Metamatic provides. The important thing is to plan our your spell selection with your Metamatic options so that you can maximize your options.
So where do you feel they are weak or lacking versatility?
Sorcerers are specialists, wizards are generalists. Sorcerers are versatile in that they can fill any 1 primary party role if they are built right but they can't just change what they are mid campaign or even adventuring day and do something different if needed, thats what wizards are for. But I sorcerer will do their specific role better than anyone else, again, if built properly. A lot of people thinking sorcerers aren't powerful or versatile is when they don't understand how to build a sorcerer or they try and to an apples to apples comparison with a wizard.
My experience with sorcerers is that they're among the strongest classes in the game. They are both strong and versatile. And if you think they're not you're picking the wrong spells.
