Me and my playgroup primarily play magic but also play DnD . Looking to get them back into it. I like to do mtg lore as campaign settings, but looking to get my players excited about the new Magic and DnD crossover. What adventures do you suggest that take place in the Forgotten Realms? We are more casual DnD players and would prefer a shorter campaign.
Dnd beyond did a encounter of the week series called road to balders gate. It’s very good to introduce the sword coast and the various people and areas Inside of it. It lacks villains and plot but it’s a nice low stress trip that can lead into more adventures
Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a short campaign that I found pretty fun. I’ve heard both of the starter sets have nice entry point short campaigns as well. None really covers the full scope of the Realms, but they should give you a feel for it at least.
Dragon of Icespire Peak can be run as a short campaign, since most of the adventure is based on a jobs board in the main town. If your players want to have a more involved story Lost Mine of Phandelver works really well with that adventure, since they both use the same starting town and many of the same NPCs. If you do choose to stretch the campaign out further, Storm King's Thunder is an easy transition at level 5. Both Horde of the Dragon Queen and Princes of the Apocalypse can work too, but you will have to do a little work starting those at higher levels.
Edit: After looking over all the published adventures a bit more, it's not difficult to use any of them after LostMines/Icespire aside from Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, since that is also a lvl 1-5 adventure. The Waterdeep city info is always useful though. It really depends on what part of the Sword Coast you want to explore (unless it's Curse of Strahd, which will pull the characters into Barovia) and how high a level you want the party to progress to. There are three adventures that continue Icespire Peak too: Storm Lord's Wrath, Sleeping Dragon's Wake, and Divine Contention.
If you just want to run something that can be done in one or two sittings, Candlekeep Mysteries is a collection of one-shots and a few of them detail other locations in the Forgotten Realms. Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Tales from the Yawning Portal are collections of short adventures that are fun too, but they aren't all based in the Forgotten Realms.
