There have been a fair few threads like "your favourite NPC", "Your favourite character" and so on - so what was your favourite quest, and what made it so great?
If it's an official module, please spoiler it with a warning so people don't get their quests ruined!
Thus far my favourite quest was when Thoruk was involved in trying to clear some kobolds out of a dwarfs home, and through several events which may-or-may-not have been Thoruk's fault, he ended up summoning a dwarven goddess and getting the dwarves locked out of their own home by pursuading her that they had asked him to destroy her alter.
As a DM, I really liked a quest from Storm Lord's Wrath:
It was a quest where the players were supposed to escort a goatherd and her trip of giant goats (yes that is one of the plurals of goats :) from Leilon to Phandalin. A group of ogres attacked them in transit. While the players fought off the ogres, the goatherd was trying (and failing) to keep her goats in check, when they were panicking and running all over the place.
Later, the players make it to Phandalin and worked to pick up supplies. They discovered certain conspiracies within the town and confronted an acolyte of Talos- who managed to run away. She returned later, when the players were confronting an undead vampire dude and created a three-way battle (I get to kill the stupid adventurers!).
Our party was investigating strange, magical haircuts rumored to be happening out of a local barbershop (flapping wings, bubbles floating off the hair tips, shifting colors…one may or may not of had a treasure map buzzed into them, which our party kept hassling them for).
Anyway, what followed was a thorough investigation of the barbershop, which led to us getting kicked out by a genuinely friendly barber, a secret hag cult, the best head banging mosh pit ever, and our friend getting turned to stone.
Oh, and my monk with a shaved head ended up getting a mimic for a wig.
I really enjoyed Salvage Operation from Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
A guy named Aubrek Drellion sent a bunch of deeds to an island across from Saltmarsh as an investment, but the ship never gave word back. Turns out, a giant octopus wrecked the ship. Fortunately, the crew escaped onto an island inhabited by orcs. Aubrek responded by sending two adventurers (me and a friend) to investigate. The ship was taken over by an evil druid obsessed with the demon Lolth. We found the deeds, but then had to deal with aforementioned giant octopus. We got away safely, gave the deeds to Aubrek

It was pretty hilarious.
