Hey everyone. I want to ask for some help, some ideas. I run my first mini-campaign and a little bit stuck with the final boss. I have an elaborate dungeon that was created by dwarfs with God's power. In the heart of it resides golem-like entity, which was created by a collab of gnomes dwarves, and gods. This Stone guard is an immortal creature, who guards some great secrets. knowledge and etc. There are several stone guards in different places of the world. But this particular one was "damaged" when one powerful wizard long time ago tried to control him and then synchronized their minds. They merged into one and became mad. They called him the roaring one. The bellow of this entity spread madness to the near area for miles and miles. Then gods helped to put it to sleep with the silver arrow through his heart. Now someone took it out, which means this entity is awakening (therefore madness will be back). Party knows all of this info, but they got very limited resources and can't create another arrow here and now. They can get out from the dungeon, of course, but it's a looong way. How can I...help them to do some stuff? At first, when I planned the scenario, I wanted it to be a skill-tested challenge where they had to forge a new arrow, but as things went there were changes here and there. I can't put this arrow broken at the floor in this tomb to quick repair-fix....I gave them a scroll of banishment just in case, but it's a temporary fix. So...maybe somebody with a great mind will suggest some ideas, please?
Perhaps the broken arrow COULD be lying on the floor, but unable to repair it, they need a slightly different solution? Placing half of the arrow in the wound might slow or delay the awakening, enough for them to implement plan B?
As for plan B, well, if there's more unexplored dungeon (or needs to be...added maybe) there could be research notes, outlining a method that, using what the party has (combining the casting of the scroll with some trinket or such) could permanently banish the entity to a planar prison, as a final solution. Add a small room, a description of some bauble that matches something they have, and a theory that using the item as a focus and casting the Banishment spell should do the trick, while using the original tool to buy time.
