I've been reading the Astral Adventurer's Guide for Spelljammer and I have to say, I'm confused as to what an Astral Dominion actually is. I know in previous editions an Astral Dominion was literally one of the outer planes. Is that still the case? Or are the something else as of 5e? Any help or clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.
Many gods have dominions in the Astral Sea. These locations typically take the form of floating islands or cities of fantastic proportions. Astral travelers might visit these dominions as they would any other ports of call, though a dominion’s divine ruler always knows when visitors have arrived and what their intentions are.
Or maybe just a way to establish astral residency as a tax dodge. The D&D Cayman Islands.
That's great!
I imagine that just outside of any given wildspace region, in the Astral Sea, any number of Gods with a vested interest in that wildspace region might have dominions. It could get crowded in a place like Realmspace. Lots of Gods.

The Outer Planes are Astral Domains. They are suppose to be inaccessible by Spelljammer.

So it’s not a plane, so much as a god’s house.
not just gods... Other powerful beings as well.
I mean, that was a cut and paste from the book, so I don’t know what to tell you. But, sure, nothing wrong with “powerful beings” having one.
