On so I'm due to run Curse of Strahd , looking at it seems that Ireena basically does nothing and she is either turned or "reunites" with Sergei.
However i was wondering what if after Strahd is defeated Ireena leaves Barovia with the PCs, it'd give me a reason for Strahd to want to come after the PCs later on .So do you think this is feasible?
Interesting idea! It's also my understanding that Strahd could not pursue her directly. Personally, I think he'd want to. The experience of defeat, coupled with her continued existence, would motivate him to new strategies he hadn't used in the past. Strahd does have agents that he could allow to leave Barovia to find where Ireena is and possibly try to lure or force her back "home."
By the way, Ireena may be relatively fragile in combat but she can become an important NPC during the main campaign. This carries many obvious risks but depending on how your story unfolds remains a possibility.

From my understanding, Strahd is trapped in Barovia as well, so if Ireena left Barovia Strahd (after reviving) couldnt pursue her directly
