Hi, In my campaign there exists a cult called the Blood Circle. They are chaotic Evil and vampire'ish and the party just found a blood ruby which is created by members of the cult using their victims blood. The archenemy of the blood circle is the Metalchain covenant which are working to counteract the blood circle to keep balance in the world.
This conflict is going on kind of underground and many people don't know about it or think its kind of mythical.
However i would like some ideas what the blood circle cult would use these rubys for?
Or I.e why would they create these rubys and what are the rubys purpose?
Depending on the scale of your campaign here's a couple of ideas:
1. (Smaller scale) The Rubies are crafted to be used in a ritual to bring forth the BBE/Master Vampire or similar
2 (Larger scale). The blood rubies are intermixed with other gems in society. One= the day of reckoning, when the cult performs their ritual, the rubies morph and infuse themselves into anyone carrying them, turning them into servants of the cult. Given the exclusiveness of the gems, this will likely hit the wealthier and more powerful part of the population, which is exactly the intent.
The cult just uses them to store the blood of their enemies so that no one notices it (since there's a lot of it). However, sometimes the spirit of the person whose blood it is can speak through the stone.
The cult can set them into weapons and / or armor to buff the items.
The cult sacrifices them to elder demons or something in exchange for favors or spells, or as part of their pact.

Kinda reminds me of how Sith "bleed" Khyber crystals with their hatred, leading to their signature red lightsaber blades.
That aside, have you looked at the Bloodhunter's Hemocraft? You could do a lot with these blood gems being essential components for rituals or monster powers derived from the BH's Hemocraft or any number of homebrew "blood magic" stuff out there.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Does this cult worship a specific deity? Maybe they see the rubies as sacred relics or, even worse, use them as part of a scam. There is a surprising and very disturbing history of people, especially members of the clergy, making a lucrative career out of forging and then selling items as "holy relics." Sometimes it got pretty crazy too, like selling actual fingers and claiming they came from major religious figures.
A ruby seems pretty mild by comparison but the same principle could apply. Maybe they like to sell these blood rubies as priceless religious artifacts from their deity, perhaps as a way of funding their operations or promoting themselves to potential new recruits.
