I've got a predicament to start: I have an idea for a campaign that pits the players against a dragon-god, similar to the premise of Rise of Tiamat. But I need to justify how this god exists without it rely being known by anyone.
Any thoughts on how to do that?

Characters: Lar-Dun Vanthaft - Human Warlock - Yawning Portal with Artymis, Moril - Tiefling Sorcerer - Dragondenn's Dragonlords, Paquinal Dalanthan - Eladrin Wizard - ShadowThorn's Out of the Abyss
Campaigns: Rod of Nankon, Darkness Reborn, Dungeonverse, Alycron - A Cosmic Horror West Marches (Co-DMing), One-on-Ones
Well, if the dragons don't really talk much to the lesser races and they are the ones worshipping said God. Why would any of the "ants" have any knowledge of this being? The dragons wouldn't tell them unless they had a good reason. Would reason that most mortals wouldn't know about it unless a dragon or some other godly being told them about it.

"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
It could also be considered a taboo subject amongst dragons. Suppose that it's the dragon equivalent of The Devil: even the most powerful dragon might be afraid to invoke its name lest they attract its attention. If that were the case, they might consider withholding this information from the humanoid races to be a mercy, because, if it scares a dragon, then what chance do humans have?

That's actually a really cool idea, I hadn't thought of something like that. Thanks for your input!
