Do all devils of the same type look exactly the same? Like bunch of clones? Or do devils have slight variations to them to make themselves indeviduals?
For example say we have 3 pit fiends, do all the pit fiends look exactly the same or do they slightly vary in their looks?
They all mostly look the same, but I would say the higher they get in rank, the more they begin to diverge from the typical appearance of the same ranking devil.
For example: All nupperibos basically look the same, as well as most imps and lemures, but all the archdevils have distinct appearances, all erinyes, pit fiends, and amnizus all look different from each other (in Descent into Avernus, there is a white pit fiend).
That's my take on it, at least, and current art seems to mostly confirm that.

I'd say they all have their slight differences, even though their general shape is the same, just like humans.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

Devils are lawful beings, so especially the lower ranks are going to have a great deal of conformity.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Probably more variation among greater devils
Yeah, my take on the answer is "some variation, with the lowest ranks looking most similar and the highest ranks being most unique"
