Hi everyone, I'm a complete beginner at any kind of roleplay but me and a few friends are interested in trying some fantasy oriented one.
An online version would be simpler for us I think. I've already checked Roll20 and D&D Beyond though but I'm struggling with the "campaign" part, im looking for something simple to begin with, maybe an adventure ready to play with only the characters to prepare if that exist https://omegle****/https://xender.vip/ ?
I have almost no idea about how D&D works but its the kind of universe that interest me. I know that you gotta create your character sheet, have a game master, roll dices and buy expensive books to get the stories xd.
Any help, tips, recommendations for roleplay beginners is welcome.
There are adventures that are called "one-shots" which are can generally be completed in a single session. Official adventures (published by Wizards of the Coast) that consist of a series of one shots include "Candle Keep Mysteries" "Journeys through the Radiant Citadel" and "Keys from the Golden Vault." None of those publications appear to have pre-generated characters included in them.
The "Lost Mine of Phandelver" does have premade characters included in the adventure. I think that may be available for free on DnD Beyond ( I can't find it in the marketplace).
As far as tips, in your first session or two, don't get too caught up in getting the rules perfect. You'll waste a lot of time looking through rule books trying to find answers to how things work. There are videos on YouTube that can give you good direction on how to get started. Search for "A beginner's guide to D&D." I haven't watched any of these videos, so I don't know which ones will be the best for you. Watching those videos may help you get a better idea of how to begin, or give you other questions you can come back here and ask.
Agree with what’s already been said and would add that “Lost Mine of Phandelver” is a great place to start. It’s made for new players but it’s also fun for experienced players as well. I’ve both played and DM’d it, and it’s great. It’ll take you from level 1 to 5 and there are also modules like “Dragon of Icespire Peak” that dovetail with it nicely and can take you to higher levels if you like it. They are also coming up with a revised version that is more of a complete campaign, but I highly recommend starting there.
I would also agree on not getting hung up on the Rules as Written and use them as guidelines so everyone in your party has a good time.
Have fun.

Began playing 1st edition back in the late 70’s and love playing and DMing 5e to this day. We have a great group of players and would love to have someone who compliments our group join us. Would be great if we could add a woman, cis or trans, but are open to anyone who loves the game, loves RP and is reliable.
Lost Mine of Phandelver is an excellent start, and you can download the free SRD (Basic rules) as well to get started. Those two things are petty much all you need right off the bat.
Only a DM since 1980 (3000+ Sessions) / PhD, MS, MA / Mixed, Bi, Trans, Woman / No longer welcome in the US, apparently

As a note, there is an expansion for the lost mines about to come out that takes that adventure and continues it.
