I am currently making a kobold D&D character by the name of Dible for a campaign that will focus a bit on the Fey Realm. I've added his backstory as well has his personality traits to his character sheet here (https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/114521317/CMZYTw).
I was curious if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations, and just general feedback on the character. I had a lot of fun writing his backstory and personality traits!
Backstory "I was born to a large Kobold tribe. When I became old enough to have a pickaxe in my hand, the tribe split due to overpopulation. I went with the departing tribe to dig a new layer. We were traveling toward the neighboring mountain when we were attacked by (insert attackers). We tried to flee, but my brothers and sisters perished. I would have joined my Kobold brethren if I hadn't been taken captive. My captors enslaved me and took advantage of my natural Kobold mining skills to gather precious stones, gems, and metals. It had been many years when I was set free by a band of dwarves who called themselves (insert name). They snuck to the holding cell where I was with some other dwarves and took me along. It was a great sneak-in rescue, with only one casualty from one of my dwarf inmates as we left. Since then, I have lived with the Dwarves of (insert name) and called them my half-tribe, as they welcomed me as if I were their own. To this day, I shall not rest till I have taken revenge for my tribe."
Personality Traits I am nice to those who are nice to me. I have an obsession with gems. I hold the "eye for an eye" ideals, anything done to me, will be done to you. I love to talk, but i may not be good at conveying a message across. I tend to spread miss information. I boast a lot about kobold mining skills
Ideals I despise gnomes I will do anything to get revenge for my lost tribe
Bonds I will do anything for my tribe, even sacrifice myself. The welfare of the tribe is welfare for myself.
Flaws I hold grudges for extremally long periods of time. I tend to be a bit greedy.
APPEARANCE Dible is a dark orange/reddish-brown two foot tall kobold with burnt orange eyes. he wears a dark gray open shirt with a color that has ripped off sleeves, along with a necklace with some of his first teeth as a sign of age. He wears broken shackles around his wrists to represent his captive past, and a pair of average leather pants that matches his shirt, that go down just below the knee. Foot wear is not a thing for kobolds. along with him is his lute in hand, sized down for his little stature.
Since Dible lost and now found a family, what will drive him to adventure with others and leave the new tribe? Especially if they are not dwarves? Does he have any goals or motivations other than a nebulous revenge and some vague gem mining? You have some good details, I'm just not yet seeing where his short and long term goals might lead him to the adventuring life.
YO I didn't think of that! thank you so much! I'll have to talk to my dm about the campaign to figure out why we wants to or has to leave with these new people. with that, it will give him another goal besides the loss of his first family. I have his wants, but his need will show up later in the campaign as character development. his need will show up later in the story, it might be that he needs to move on, or find his true tribe, since the dwarves were really mostly focused on the mining aspect and not a whole lot on the connection aspect. or maybe he gets his wants, where then he might feel fulfilled, or empty. his need will show up, and whatever it will be, it will be the best for him.
Thanks again for the feedback!
