I actually really enjoyed this rogue archetype, a lot more than it's fighter counterpart- i'm not usually into rangers, but the scout for the rogue represents a ranger that I would love to play, mundane, focused on ambushes, it contextualizes the rogue's core features in a way that i really like- and the mechanics themselves look fun. I know some people don't like it when concepts overlap like this, but I thought it was a wonderful solution to the game's lack of a mundane ranger option and I really hope it makes it into that "first major rules expansion" they publish.

Edit: The Scout Subclass
Another way to look at it is a skill based survivalist vs a martial based survivalist
