Hey i'm pretty new and I've been creating a DND character based around the idea of vampirism. I found a really cool 'custom class' for vampire and I've been trying to implement it as a subclass of Warlock, but it's very confusing to me.
Yeah, where the 'eldritch' connection comes from the power in the blood. I'd go for making a fresh class using the above guide as an idea or base depending on what the DM thought, but using this I can only add subclasses that are custom so Vampire Warlock would be the best I can think of ^^''
Before you start creating things, you need to ask yourself few questions: (from what i understood you want an otherworldly patron: Vampire?)
1- is there something in the game similar to it? if yes you can reskin it
2- How do you imagine it walking with a party and going on communications? Will it be annoying or awesome? (forgive me if butchered the English grammar there)
These are the questions (that i can think on top of m head) that you should ask yourself while making it. Also you should have more knowledge of the game mechanics in order to get something that fits your fantasy and it not being broken.
And Vampirisim already exists in this game, and it's a disease so normal folk won't accept thus making most of the vampires tend towards evil since they are viewed as monsters that steal life from others. As a patron? there is probably a lot of attempts to make it already in the internet. Though lore wise they aren't strong enough to bestow power upon others. The closest thing to getting such, is Blood of Vol (patron for undead warlocks), Zargon the retrunner? (forgot the name but he is a blood wizard turned to monster but he is part of the great old ones) and there are few more the might suit your need. I hope you find what you need at some point but always keep in mind what sound cool in your head might not be fun on table: and good luck!

That's the article I read and it was very interesting. If you don't think it'd work or perhaps you think I should try something different let me know.
So, if I get this right, you want to play a vampire that is a special kind of warlock designed to buff his vampireism?
