I've almost finished creating my merfolk warlock. But I'm having trouble selecting the patron I want to be connected with.
In my character builder section it's only allowing me to choose the fiend. But didn't the purposes of our story I need to choose the great old one, but it's not even giving me that as an option.
Ah thats a shame, would I have to buy the handbook online even though I have it in a hard copy.
Or can i just purchase that particular patron without getting anything else?
Thanks for your help :)
You can most definitely just buy the patron you want. Be aware, though, that there might also be a few Warlock spells that are not included into the Basic Rules that you might want to see if you want to buy (these as well are separate purchase option).
Here you can find the PHB page with all the single-purchase options.
EDIT: maybe check with your DM if they have a campaign here on DDB. If they do and they have purchased online manuals from the marketplace they can share it all with you, provided they also have the Master Tier subscription (which is a really cheap monthly subscription)
As another option, you can use the built-in Homebrew system to enter in the GoO patron yourself, in addition to any Warlock spells from your hardcover that aren't available in the basic rules.

The only patron available in the Basic Rules is the Fiend. You need to pay for other patrons.

Or let the one running the campaign pay for it and share it with you.

I think that you can just buy a specific patron, but I'm not sure. I bit the bullet and just bought the whole thing online.

Born in Italy, moved a bunch, living in Spain, my heart always belonged to Roleplaying Games
