okay so an multiclass character can cast any of their spells using ether warlock spell slots or normal spell slots, regardless of what class the spell comes from
and when an feature states you may use an warlock spell slot for something, it is implied normal spell slots do not work
but when a feature, such as font of magic, divine smite or experimental elixir allows an character to expend spell slots to trigger an effect, does that mean "any non-warlock spell slot" or "both normal spell slots and warlock spell slots", in other words could i use an warlock spell slot to trigger divine smite, expend warlock spell slots to gain sorcery points and use them to brew new potions, or am i only able to use warlock spell slots for spells of other classes, plus using them for any warlock feature that demands them like eldrich smite, thief of five fates and sign of ill omen?

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
If the feature doesn't specify "class_X" spell slots, then you may use any spell slots. When it means "class_X" slots, this is explicitly stated.
so in summary it is yes in all cases, an warlock multiclass could expend their warlock spell slot to create an experimental elixir, trigger divine smite and convert excess warlock spell slots into sorcery points, ok good to know
