Ok, so the big bad fighter approaches you. You are a human 4th level warlock, Agaonizing Blast and Repelling blast. You took War Caster as a human 1st level feat and Polearm Master as a 4th level feat.
The fighter comes running up, when he gets within 5 ft of the spear you are wielding, you get an AoO (Polearm Master), which you decide to take using a spell (War Caster), and you use an Eldritch Blast (because you are a warlock, after all), which you must use to attack him and only him. You hit him with your blasts, and the repel him 10 feat away, which most likely means he doesn't get in range.
Then at 5th level you could push him 20 ft away. etc. etc.
Is there something I am missing? Or is this a legal build. It looks really good against melee creatures, By the time you get to 17th you are moving creatures up to 40 ft away. If they are starting at 40 ft away, they will need a speed of 80 to ever hit you. Even starting at 10 ft away, they will need a speed of 50.
Not even counting a Pact of the Blade Glaive. Or the Sentinel feat you take at 8th.
According to Crawford(https://twitter.com/JeremyECrawford/status/580139521498480640) the intent is that if an AoO is triggered because of Polearm Master, that the AoO should be made with said polearm. RAW you can get away with it, but it's kinda cheesy. Plus, it's gonna make the DM double-team you in every fight :)
I would allow it at my table. It takes TWO feats and is only broken in a very niche circumstance (against a single melee combatant with no ranged attacks). I don't really see it increasing your overall survival much more than taking Medium Armor or Tough or something
For the record eldritch blast is a cantrip and not a spell, and warcaster states cast a spell. You cannot use eldritch blast. I would suggest you probably use guilding bolt instead.

WarCaster absolutely works with cantrips, they are considered spells. For example, when Tasha's Cauldron revised the wording of Booming Blade, lots of people were worried that it would no longer work with War Caster, because it had been before and was a very popular tactic with builds like Eldritch Knights, Arcane Tricksters and Blade Warlocks, forcing the fleeing enemy to choose between staying put or taking even more damage.

What is a Spell? Every spell has a level from 0 to 9.
Straight from the basic rules. Cantrips are spells. War Caster does not state what level of a spell you may or have to cast nor does it require that the spell cast be one that consumes a spell slot. Therefore, a cantrip can be used when using War Caster

According to this sage advice Warcaster can use Eldritch Blast as long as all attacks go against the provoking creature.
It works as written but goes against the intent of both feats in my opinion. Run it by your DM to be on the safe side.

It's as they said RAW is ok. RAI is not what they intended for them, but ultimately your DM has the final word
