Raising a specter is the 6th level Accursed Specter ability and it doesn't need Hexblade's Curse. You just need to kill someone and it is a choice to do so.
I would imagine that choosing to use Accursed Specter stops the Finger of Death from raising a zombie. Or you get both. *shrug*.
As the above guy said it's not require to use the x curse to get the spectre.
That being said, you'd get both. I think that'd make the most sense. The soul gets trapped and the body becomes a zombie. These don't seem like mutually exclusive effects to me.
Let me preface with no experience or proof, and is opinion/ thought experiment only. I think the flavour would fall to your table/DM but... That said,
Accursed spectre raises a SPIRIT then the body could remain to be reanimated for finger of death. Finger of death causes the killing blow - Hexblade feature kicks in to decide to raise a spectre or not - then Finger of Death option remains to raise zombie. I think you could get either or both.
I think a more interesting question is if CREATURE = BODY + SOUL/ SPIRIT, can a creature killed by A Hexblade Warlock casting FInger of Death instead be "resurrected" as an undead thrall, or the body with the spirit inside? making it less zombie like as more like how the humanoid creature was in life, but under the same suggestion/ command as the AS + FoD.
Would this creature be conscious of what happening or would they be more like charmed, or would they have died, and the remains are like a proximation of their mind like in SCI-FI movies when someone has uploaded their consciousness, and it can think, and can believe it is the person (sometimes it knows it isn't) but not actually be the same creature.
I don't think that zombies have the original soul of the person whose body the zombie was created from. I would have it make a specter and a zombie, the specter as the soul, and the zombie as the body.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Yes that’s the idea of the features working separately- some versions of zombie do suggest a remnant if the spirit or maybe it’s more of a habit. This is plain horror zombies I haven’t read the monster manual on zombies.
but the idea of the spirit in the zombie to create a more undead version of the creature (think Dracula) is the idea of using both features together/ at the same time to raise the zombie and the accursed spectre as one entity.
alternatively I wonder if you can order the spectre into the body of the zombie.

As stated in the thread title, this is a hypothetical question. Just for fun.
If a target under Hexblade's Curse is killed by Finger of Death, would this then raise the target as both a specter and a zombie?
Discuss.
