So far I've been playing this Hexblade warlock in my game and I've finally have seen a glimpse of where my power is coming from (Some powerful being called the Raven Queen) and I have a new master (Some powerful warlock known as the witch of the dark wood) now that is training me in the arts.
Also I had to make a sacrifice in order to progress in level and gather new powers. (made by my dm) So in order for me to grow I needed to give up some Constitution points in exchange for one more spell slot as a level 4 warlock.
The process I had to preform was entering a twisted malformed gray tree that brought me to a sorta pocket plain that mirrored the real world and had to slice my hand and reach into the water of a nearby lake, finding out there was power (being the spell slot) and a new Onyx Axe, but drained of my of 2 Constitution.
Is this a good trade off or have I been nerfed by dm? (Role being the front-line of our group)
I've found the trade off to be interesting and my new found master says "There will always be more rites like this for power has it's price."
Losing constitution is not ideal for a frontline fighter, but 2 constitution for an extra warlock spell slot seems like a really good trade in general. At level 4 you usually have only 2 spell slots, so an extra slot is a 50% increase in your arcane staying power. You give up 4 hitpoints, but you could use the slot for an extra casting of armor of agathys.
