Kosuth, the Primordial lord of fire might grant such power. This could be an argument for power stolen without his benefactor's notice as I think Kosuth simply may not care about the mortal world.
I think a real simple one is to go out of your way to establish your genie's aesthetic as different than that of the classic Arabian Genie. Have your Genie, and vessel, have an aesthetic that matches a drastically different culture. Find some images online that help you visualize that or draw it if you're so inclined. A visual tool is key. Maybe your genie isn't even humanoid in form or sentience. You don't interact with your patron as a genie with the stats of genie. There's no consequence to you creating a very different breed of genie that is serving as your patron. The DM and your creativity are the limiting factors there.
Examples:
An old Fire god who has dwindled to a living flame that lives in a lantern. It gives you power, and safety within the lantern in exchange for questing to to return it to its former glory
A divine Hippocampus that only visits you in your dreams. It whispers cryptic messages to you as you travel through hallucinatory terrain. You wake up each morning with a different shell on your chest which serves as the days vessel.
A mysterious little man that resembles a deep gnome, but with lots of hair. Especially the eyebrows. He speaks in a kind of Scottish brogue and is dressed in a ragged suit jacket and trousers. He's always dirty and smoking and meeting with him generally ends in some kind of heated discussion over food and drink. He gave you a worn pocket watch to serve as a vessel.
A former monk who's ascetism led to transcending the mortal and physical realm. Wisps of their consciousness seem to find you at the perfect time, traveling across the winds, often forewarned by a sensation of being lifted up in the air. Your vessel is a mobile with arms made from bird bones with feathers sticking from each end. A bronze incense burner hangs from the middle. Lighting the incense and hanging the mobile transports you into the vessel.
