I’m working on a tortle spore druid and for his background I’m considering Haunted one. To make this really interesting I’m playing with the idea of later multiclassing into warlock. This way it would have been the patron haunting me all this time. Could lead to a really cool character arc, right? :)
I’d love your thoughts in this... some questions;
i will suck in charisma. Does that make this idea stupid?
can just one lvl in warlock provide any value or will it only be flavor? Or do you suggest a minimum of lvls?
The question is, why do you need to be a Warlock to have a patron? You can have a patron without being a warlock if it's for the sake of flavor.
You got two choice for this: If you don't care for optimization: I say keep your Wisdom as your highest and have 13 charisma minimum for multiclassing. Choose The great Old Ones as your patron and have your patron as the demon lord Zuggtmoy as she is all about Fungi and as to why GOO instead of fiend, because fiend is all about fire which i don't think it's fitting but GOO on the other hand gives you telepathy like that of the mychonids (humanoid Fungi). Just have maybe 2 levels maximum and choose whichever invocations you fin fitting. You can go 3 levels for pact boon but i think that's pushing it too much. Again, it's up to you.
If you care for optimization: Simply don't multiclass since it'll lag you a lot and Warlock isn't really all that good with Druid imo (but i am not a min-maxer i care for RP way more), you can ask your DM to have Zuggtmoy haunting you for whatever reason, which could actually be that she has chosen your character as a champion! and if you REALLY want warlock's stuff ask your DM for maybe an invocation or two just for fluff.
Hope this answered your questions and i as well hope you enjoy playing your character...... ngl you started a brain storm with my mind of your idea right now, i like your theme.

Or the UA warlock feat (it's not fully implemented in D&D Beyond, but you could still track it separately)

Amazing input from you there. Thank you very much! Also glad it got your mind working ;)
The feat that may appear in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is Eldritch Adept. Not sure if it’ll be identical to the UA version, which states:
“Studying occult lore, you have unlocked eldritch power within yourself: you learn one Eldritch Invocation option of your choice from the warlock class. If the invocation has a prerequisite, you can choose that invocation only if you’re a warlock and only if you meet the prerequisite. Whenever you gain a level, you can replace the invocation with another one from the warlock class.”

Which feat is that? Will it be implemented in the new Tasha book?
