Monks Handwraps are cloth wraps worn on the hand which bestow Elemental Damage and limited resistance (only versus items held with the hand wearing the wraps). They usually come in pairs but can be used single handed. They only apply benefits toward a Monks Unarmed Strike attacks. For instance Fire Handwraps add +1 magical attack and damage to Unarmed Strikes plus 1d6 Fire Damage. The Elemental Damage is only applied if the Monk has at least 1Ki and chooses to activate the damage. While it does not cost Ki to activate, a Monk whose available Ki is 0 is considered too exhausted to control the elemental damage. (A Pugilist cannot control the Elemental Damage and it will only apply upon a critical hit)
They provide immunity to fire damage from held objects (not from attacks, environmental, area effect or damage from a held object exploding)
Notes: Damage: Fire, Damage: Unarmed Attacks, Bonus: Unarmed Attacks, Lawful. Monk or Pugilist, Damage, Handwear
Very cool, definitely stealing this idea 😁 I have 2 monks in my campaign who will fight over these.
These are Ripped straight from my memory of the AD&D Monks Handbook expansion. You can simply change the Fire for Ice, Water or Earth. I've also played a variant with Force which did Magic damage and my GM at the time allowed it to defend against 1 Magic Missile per round if the monk was high enough to Catch (not deflect) Missiles
I had forgotten all about those. I never played monks back then.
