After you successfully cast a spell while using this staff and before rolling damage you can choose to roll 1d6:
1 or 2: your spell automatically fails
3 or 4: your spell has its normal effect
5: Your spell deals double the damage. If it doesn't deal damage the duration of it gets doubled. Roll any dice like normal and add all boni, then double it.
6: Your spell has its normal effect. You also regain your spell slot.
This item ignores all abilitys, class features and all other rules which let you skip your dice roll or affect your dice roll in any way, unless specifically stated otherwise by your DM.
Scorching Ray: to be able to roll a d6 at least 50% of your rays have to hit. The effect of the staff counts for the entire spell, not for individual ray's. If less then 50% hit, the effects are as normal. This rule also applies for all other spells with mutiple projectiles or similar effects.
Befav, a halve ork, created his very own staff at a young age, but the desing was flawed and unbalanced. Befav's mind degenerated over time to the point where he couldn't tell the difference between a Staff and a Wand anymore and started to cast the weirdest spells. Despite this, Befav's strength in combat was unmached... on a good day. Some wizards and Philosophers, who had too much time, suggested that the uncontrolable nature of Befav's staff had something to do with his dwindeling intellect. A good 20 years after his death a Warlock, fed up with the false name and uncontrolable nature of this staff, combined it with an actual wand, creating this unique staff.
