This enchanted clothen container was created by the Divine Keeper of the Winds, Aeolus. Originally created so that a human and his army may reach their homeland, within it is the essence of one of the largest sea born storms ever conceived, ironically created by the ruler of the seas, Poseidon, father of the bags creator and one who the aforementioned man blinded. Sadly, just off the shore of their home, the curiosity of the human’s soldiers grew too large, causing them to open the Wind Bag of Aeolus. This released nearly the entirety of the storm trapped inside, alerting Poseidon to their location and killing most of the army when they were so close to their families after years at war.
Surprisingly, the bag was blown away and sealed shut before the final remnants of the disastrous weather was released. Now it can be found drifting somewhere. Somewhere in the infinite expanse of ocean. Somewhere in the domain of the ruthless sea god.
The Storm Bag of Aeolus has 15 charges. The bag does not naturally regain expended charges during long and short rests.
Absorption. Upon being hit by an attack or spell that deals lightning damage, you may use a reaction to trap this product of storms within the bag, strengthening the remaining power trapped in it. Upon doing so, you negate the damage you would have while regaining charges equal to the total lightning damage divided by 10 (minimum of 1). However, if this brings the total amount of charges above 15 or if you already have that amount, you cannot take this reaction. If this aforementioned attack or spell does additional damage that is not lightning, you still take it as you normally would, excluding lightning.
Spellcasting. While holding the bag, you can use an action to expand an amount of charges, casting one of the following spells, using your spell save DC and spell casting ability. If you do not have a spell save DC and spell casting ability, you use your strength to calculate it, as the force of the storm requires such Herculean control. Fog Cloud (1 charge), Gust of Wind (2 charges), Tidal Wave (3 charges), Storm Sphere (4 charges), and Lightning Bolt (5th-level version, 5 charges). You cannot cast another spell this way if one requiring concentration is active.
Last of the Storm. If the Storm Bag of Aeolus has all its charges expanded, the stress of constant opening and closing causes it to tear, leading to the final remnants of wind and rain to escape. Upon falling to 0 charges, the Storm Bag is destroyed as it casts Storm of Vengeance centered on itself. The spell lasts for the entire duration and cannot be counterspelled nor dispelled.
