These finely crafted and highly detailed porcelain masks appear to be traditional sock (comedy) or buskin (tragedy) masks until worn by a bard. Once one of these masks is donned it molds itself to fit the wearer’s face, features, and gender identity, and randomly changes to one of the following characters:
The Hero- The hero face has a strong jaw and a fine, Roman nose. It grants the wearer advantage on charisma (intimidation) checks
The Villain- The villain face has a hooked nose, a thin mouth, and a weak chin. It grants the wearer advantage on charisma (deception) checks.
The Lover- The lover face has high cheekbones and a full, expressive mouth. It grants the wearer advantage on charisma (persuasion) checks.
The Fool- The fool face has a large nose and round cheeks. It grants the wearer advantage on charisma (performance) checks.
The Sage- The sage face has an aged appearance including slight worry lines, frown lines, crows feet, and smile lines. It grants the wearer advantage on charisma saving throws.
While worn it can be used as a spell focus. As an action the wearer can choose to switch the character portrayed by the mask. The mask changes back and forth between comedy and tragedy expressions automatically depending on the wearer’s mood. While wearing the mask, observers never notice the mask without the benefit of Truesight or the True Seeing spell, and must succeed on a DC 17 insight check to accurately recall your face.

Love it!
Nice! Definitely a cool Bard themed item. I wish there were more mask items, as my Warlock used to have one as part of her attire.
I love it, but I find it a bit too good for an uncommon, limitless uses item. Can grant 5 different skill or save advantages, as long as you have 1 action to set it up. Outside combat, it isn't really a drawback. I suggest adding number of uses per dawn or long rest, or changing the item's rarity.
Funny that the most sinister and suspicious-looking mask is the most convincing when telling lies.
It also implies the hero goes around bullying people with intimidation. At least that's how most people will play it.
It was meant to represent the hero’s imposing presence and obvious capabilities…
…and the villain’s general duplicity and dastardly underhandedness.
After all, heroes are supposed to be mighty and impressive figures on stage, and villains have to be especially villainous, but people still fall for it anyway or there wouldn’t be a plot.
Thank you. I’m glad.
Thank you. Cool, what did your Warlock’s mask look like? Was it a magic mask like this one, or a mundane mask you wish had been magic? Either way, what it do?
Thank you. What Rarity were you thinking? I was thinking Major Uncommon (using the system from Xanathar’s), were you thinking more Minor-Major Rare, or even higher?
Ok, other things aside, just the fact that it makes remembering your face difficult is a perfect recipe for shenanigans.
Congrats on getting feature, Sposta! This is an excellent item with a great and unique idea. Well done!
Thanks!! I really appreciate that. (I just wish I had noticed that double space before I published it. 🙄 And capitalized Charisma. But mostly that double space.)
i also think its too good... i mean its literally enhance ability on a stick that you can now just do at will.
uncommon is a bit too strong for that... i would go rare. because its only enhance ability. its not a big spell even though its a second level spell. still it gives the user literally advantage on all checks now. all it takes is 1 action. yeah i would keep it at rare. doesn'T warrant very rare. its also attuned, so there is that.
but overall... what makes it strong is...
its enhance ability as a cantrip. There is no drawback, all it takes is 1 action to gain advantage on everything role play wise.
all that said, cool item !
just think its heavy as an uncommon item. i'd bump it to rare.
cool defenetly would be a good campaign
Thanks
I want to give this to a villain so bad.
lol 😂 Then do. That’s a great way to put it in a campaign for a PC to get it.
Really cool
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
my rogue, who is a performer, would love to have this in her hands ASAP!
