This 6" knife is carved from volcanic moon rock and is exceptionally sharp but brittle. The blade, hilt, and scabbard are carved with the images of lunar wolves and colored in blue, black, and silver. The knife shows the images of 5 wolves. Each wolf represents the spirit of a deceased druidic ancestor in a direct line. If you should die without progeny, then the spiritual lineage will be broken and a new Moon Elf Druidic line must begin the chain again. This functional hunting knife cannot be used as a weapon. Instead it serves as a pocket item (max 2 pocket items). Starting at level 6, the wolf-spirits can be called forth to serve as companions; they manifest as the Silvered Lunar Wolf. You companion may take suggestions, but they cannot be commanded except to re-enter the knife. The companions can be summoned and dismissed at will (except to dismiss a companion during combat takes 2 turns) and have no maximum duration. But should your companion die before being dismissed, the spirit must be coaxed back to the knife. This can be done by keeping it in the light of a full moon for one entire night. If the moon is obscured by clouds, the druid must find another clear location or wait until the next full moon. For this reunification, each spirit is independent of the other 4.
The wolves can be called forth as a pack at the following intervals:
Level 6 = 1
Level 9 = 2
Level 12 = 3
Level 15 = 4
Level 18 = 5
Keen Hearing and Smell. The wolf has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Pack Tactics. The wolf has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the wolf's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
Lunar Camouflage. The wolf has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in moonlit terrain.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
LunarBreath (Recharge 5–6). The wolf exhales a blast of freezing wind in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) celesital damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Description
The planar-dwelling silvered lunar wolf is as large as a forest wolf but has silvery-white fur and pale blue eyes. These animals are the incarnated spirits of deceased Moon Elf druids and are thus much wiser than mortal wolves. Moon Elves use these neutral creatures as guards and hunting companions, putting the wolves' deadly breath weapon to use against their foes. Lunar wolves communicate with one another using growls and barks, but they speak Elvish and Sylvan well enough to follow simple conversations.
