After the initial strike, lightning arcs to two other targets of your choice within 30 feet of the original target. These secondary targets must also make the same Dexterity save, taking the same damage on a failure, or half on a success.
Lore of Aeisparc, the Shard of Frozen Storms
Forged during the Twilight Tempest, a planar convergence where the elemental realms of Ice and Storm briefly overlapped, Aeisparc was not crafted so much as it was bound.
Its creator was Vaeril, an elven high magus and stormbinder of the old empire. Obsessed with mastering the forces of nature itself, Vaeril sought to capture the essence of a storm frozen in time. He ventured deep into the Frostmaw Expanse, where a bolt of celestial lightning had once struck a glacial peak and become trapped within the ice—frozen but still pulsing with power.
Through a month-long ritual involving the tongues of djinn, the breath of a white dragon, and a sapphire heartstone, Vaeril extracted the storm’s essence and sealed it into an unassuming mithral hilt. The blade would only reveal itself to those who could command both arcane energy and elemental will.
Legends say Aeisparc’s power is drawn from a storm that never ended, and its lightning still remembers the fury of the sky. When summoned, its blade forms with the sound of distant thunder muffled by snow, and those struck feel their blood slow and their nerves burn at once.
Notable Bearers:
-
Vaeril, who vanished in his final experiment—rumored to have tried to reverse the blade's polarity and trap time itself.
-
Nyra of the Cirque Tempest, a wandering battle-dancer who used Aeisparc to cut through warlords’ ranks like wind through wheat.
-
Eremund the Frostwoken, a fallen paladin turned storm sorcerer who found Aeisparc buried in a glacier and claimed it spoke to him in dreams.
Whispers & Rumors:
-
Some scholars claim Aeisparc is sentient—not truly alive, but holding a sliver of the storm’s primal consciousness.
-
In rare conditions, when used during a real thunderstorm, Aeisparc’s blade grows jagged and emits thunderclaps with every swing.
