a hat of infinite charisma, it sways the finder to put the hat on, in the name of unimaginable power. When the player puts the hat on and attunes, they gain a +4 in their Charisma stat up to 20, and can now choose one cantrip from the wizard, warlock, sorcerer, or bard spell tables to use while they're attuned to the hat (the player will use their spellcasting modifiers for the spell). The only way the hat can be removed is through the remove curse spell.
Every midnight, the hat will start working to take control of the player. The player must succeed a DC10 wisdom save every night to keep control. If the player fails this save at any point, the hat will temporarily possess them in their sleep for the night (what the hat does is up to the DM, though I would recommend having them wake up in a disturbing place, like a brothel or a pig pen). The player will not remember the night prior, and no check will reveal it to them, other than asking the hat. After the first fail, the wisdom save becomes a DC15 every night. If the player fails this save, the hat gains control of the player for 1d4 days. The player remains conscious, but can't fight back against the spell, and can only watch as if trapped inside of the hat looking out a window. the player won't make saves as it's trapped in the hat, only when their in control of their own body. After the 2nd fail, the Wisdom save becomes a DC20, if the player fails this save, they permanently become a result of the "find familiar" spell. any time the hat uses the find familiar spell, it will summon it's most recent victim, that being the player. The hat will continue using the find familiar spell to blend in with the party until it has found a suitable replacement, in which the player will be dispelled for good.
The hat can be described like a mimic that absorbs the magic abilities of it's victims once they convert them into the find familiar spell. the stronger the magic user, the longer the hat can go before hunting out another victim. the hat must keep moving from person to person, or else the magic keeping it alive will wither and die. \
