The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials.

Notes: "The breastplate and pauldrons of this armor are fashioned from leather that has been hardened through the traditional method of boiling in oil, a technique long used to render the material stiff and resistant to blows. The remainder of the harness is composed of softer, more supple leathers or textiles, affording the wearer greater mobility and comfort during prolonged engagements."
