Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

Amulet of the Bahamut (Heirloom, Legendary, Cursed)

Glittering platinum and sapphire scales are set in a dragon-shaped disk, suspended from an intricate silver chain. The amulet exudes a gentle warmth and a faint celestial hum.

Properties:

  • Legacy of the Platinum Dragon: While attuned, you may increase one ability score of your choice by +1 (not to exceed 20). This benefit ends if you willingly betray Bahamut’s tenets (honor, justice, nobility, protection of the innocent, opposition to tyranny and evil).
  • Unworthy Curse: If you act against Bahamut’s ideals, the amulet chills painfully and your maximum HP is reduced by 1d4 (DM’s discretion, applies once per betrayal). This reduction lasts until you atone (such as through Greater RestorationAtonement, or an act of sincere penance).
  • Heirloom of Bahamut: The amulet serves as a spellcasting focus for sorcerers, clerics, or paladins devoted to Bahamut.
  • Dragon Summons:
    • At level 10, as an action, you can summon a Young Metallic Dragon (chosen from gold, silver, brass, bronze, or copper) once per ten days. The dragon is friendly, acts on your initiative, and remains for 1 hour or until dismissed or slain.
    • At level 20, this summon instead calls an Adult Metallic Dragon of your choice, with the same restrictions.
  • Bahamut’s Smite (Paladin/Sorcerer Multiclass Only): If you are both a paladin and sorcerer, you can invoke the Smite of Bahamut once per long rest. When you hit with a melee attack, you deal an additional 4d8 radiant damage and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you (and the amulet’s luminous dragon specter) until the end of your next turn.

Notes: Bonus: Ability Score Maximum, Exhaustion
