At a glance, this single-edged sword appears finely made, but mundane. The edge is sharp, the handle comfortable, and the weight is well-balanced. The weapon seems to resist attempts to identify it, but when one manages to do so, they learn the truth of the sword.
Aelthir Maer (Wind Spirit, in Sylvaxi)
This blade is ancient in its making, and runes inscribed along the spine of the weapon glow a faint blue. Should one with the ability to comprehend any language read the runic inscription, it reads in Sylvaxi:
'I strike with the unseen power this world hid from many, for I, like the wind, am the equalizer.'
Beautifully balanced, this blade is nimble and light in the hand, despite its length. It seems to dance and slice through the air, and grants the wielder a +2 to Attack rolls and Damage. It has the finesse property, and increases the range a wielder can critically strike by 1. The elven magic imbued in the blade grants it an additional 1d8 of magical slashing damage when it strikes a target.
Additionally, this weapon seems attuned to the ebb and flow of magic in the air around it. It was forged to respond to the weave, and as such, it is granted the following abilities:
- Windlash Retaliation. If the wielder succeeds a saving throw against a spell or magical effect within 30 feet of the caster, the wielder may then spend their reaction to make a melee weapon attack on the origin of that saving throw, using Aelthir Maer, regardless of distance. The damage type for this reactionary attack is entirely Force, and cannot be reduced in any way.
- Windweave Dispersion. Once per long rest, the wielder of Aelthir Maer may speak it's name into the air while in the presence of a magical effect - and cast Dispel Magic at 5th level on that effect.
- Wind Investiture. Once per short rest, when the wielder of Aelthir Maer uses their specific class ability (Action Surge, Reckless Attack, or Sneak Attack), Aelthir Maer invests its power into their blows - adding 2d8 Force damage to all of their attacks until the end of their next turn.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
