Weapon (shortsword), legendary (requires attunement by a Requires attunement - Cleric, Fighter, Sorcerer or Paladin)

Forged from a shard of a forgotten dragon god’s fang, Aetherbrand hums with ancient breath and divine resonance. The blade flickers with translucent scales in moonlight and roars like distant thunder when raised in battle.

Breath of Ancients (2/long rest)

As an action, unleash a cone of elemental dragonfire (15 ft. cone). Choose one damage type when attuning: fire, cold, lightning, or radiant.

  • Targets must make a Dex save (DC = 8 + Prof + CHA mod)

  • On a fail: take 6d6 damage, half on success.

  • Damage scales with level: +1d6 at levels 10 and 15.

    If a Divine Smite or Sorcerer spell is cast on the same turn, the breath becomes unstoppable—ignoring resistance.

After awakening will get the following properties:

Draconic Aegis

  • While wielding Aetherbrand, you gain:

    • +1 to AC if not wearing heavy armor

    • Resistance to your chosen breath damage type

    • Advantage on Intimidation checks against dragonkin or cultists

      Spell Echo: Divine Pulse

      When you use your Divine Smite feature or cast a Sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, you may choose to channel the power through Aetherbrand:

      • The next melee attack made before the end of your turn deals an additional 2d6 radiant or elemental damage

      • This effect can occur once per turn

        Draconic Resurgence (1/long rest)

        As a bonus action when you're reduced to half HP or less, you may activate the fang's divine core.

        • Gain temporary HP = your CHA mod + Paladin level + Sorcerer level

        • Your next Smite or damaging spell automatically crits if it hits within the next minute.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
