Arcane Chalk Bag

This bag, made from rust cloth, appears to be half full of white chalk powder. An attuned bard or druid, however, can think of a colour and, when they dip their fingers into the bag, the chalk powder coating their fingers will be that colour exactly.

This chalk can only be used as an arcane focus for an attuned user, replacing their default arcane focus. Attuning to this focus does not count toward the maximum objects you can attune to. When casting a spell, the material component is fulfulled where required by the user flinging a handful of chalk dust of any colour into the air which will then "stick" as if to a wet surface in the shape of the appropriate arcane glyphs. When the glyphs are painted, if the spell was successful, they "explode" (No damage or push) into a small cloud of colour that dissipates in two seconds. If the spell was unsuccessful, the chalk will "unstick" and fall to the ground, where the chalk will instantly dissolve, leaving no trace.

Any chalk that is tossed that doesn't stick to the glyph shape, or any chalk that is tossed outside of a spellcasting context, will immediately dissolve upon contact with any surface or after 2 seconds, whichever happens first.

Any chalk that is applied to any surface, except in the case of spells that require application of glyphs to a surface or in ritual casting will also instantly dissolve.

The attunement to this item will end if it is more than 1 mile away from its owner for over 24 hours.
