Aadazinel's Absolute Telescope (used by the legendary wizard) appears to be a black metal telescope carved with arcane runes written in an unknown language. It weighs less than its size would imply, and is mounted on a black wooden tripod although it can be looked through using one hand. If attempts are made to damage it it is found to be indestructible. A non attuned individual who attempts to look into the eyepiece suffers 5d10 psychic damage and is haunted by nightmares of tentacled creatures between the stars for 5 days.
Once attuned, the runes on the shaft glow, and their function is known to the attuned user. The effects of multiple runes can combine. One rune, when pressed, creates an intense distortion in the air a few tens of metres in front of the scope. When looking through the telescope, it now provides a resolution of up to 0.05 arc-seconds as well as perfect adaptive optics (making it roughly equivalent to the Hubble space telescope). This allows the user to identify surface features on incredibly far away objects such as the moon, tell minuscule surface features on creatures many km away (identification of tattoos, scars etc), and grants advantage on checks made to see if someone is lying, as you can see individual drops of sweat and microwrinkles.
Another rune, when pressed, changes the light the telescope detects. Using the IR spectrum, creatures seen through the scope do not benefit from invisibility and the user gains +10 to perception checks and unlimited range darkvision. Using the UV spectrum grants similar effects, however it does not grant darkvision. The microwave, X ray and gamma spectrum show very little. The radio wave spectrum allows the identification of objects that hold magnetism.
Another rune folds the tripod into a pocket dimension for ease of carriage. This effect does not create a black hole when placed inside a bag of holding.
Finally, the scope acts as a spellbook and spellcasting focus, when found containing all Aadizinel's spells (easy to find on this website). In addition, using the telescope Aadizinel's Stellar Navigation can be cast as a bonus action without using a spell slot and once a month, the forbidden spell Aadazinel's Low Orbit Drop can be cast in only four hours rather than the original 36 hour casting time.
Notes: The creature attuning to the telescope must watch the stars through it without sleeping for 48 consecutive hours.
