You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
While wielding this bone-and-ligament longbow, you are attuned to the power of the Screaming One, the fallen Ardent God of Terror. Any arrow you nock to the bow instantly transmutes into a sleek, lengthened spire of bone. When one of these arrows hits a target, roll a d6. On an odd number, the arrow shatters on impact, doing an extra d4 of piercing damage to the target. On an even number, the arrow spears its target and begins to spread rib-like spikes. Any attempts to heal the target without spending a bonus action to remove the arrow fail, and instead result in 2d6 necrotic damage. Removing the arrow also incurs 1d4 piercing damage. Once per day, instead of making normal attacks with your bow, you may choose to cast the spell Fear with a save DC of 16. If a creature fails the roll by 5 or more, instead of being forced to flee, they are Paralyzed in mortal dread. The creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns.
If you manage to overcome the curse of the Screaming One and restore Ekkren to his true state, the bow gains additional benefits. The aura of dread surrounding the bow grants you the effects of the Alert feat, while you remain attuned to it. You and any allies within 30 feet of you are considered immune to the Frightened condition as long as you are not incapacitated. The bow glows with a sickly green light whenever there are Undead within 100 feet and lets off a constant whispering mist that folds around you and obscures you from sight and sound, giving you advantage on all Stealth checks. Once per long rest, when you hit a creature with an arrow from this bow, you can choose to Stalk the creature. You become aware of its surface thoughts and emotions while it remains with 120 feet of your location. Unless it's shielded from magical detection, you are aware of the creature's direction and distance from you (as long as it remains on the same plane of existence) until your next long rest.
If you kill a creature with this longbow-- or if a creature you drop to zero hit points dies while knocked unconscious from your attack-- the creature is immediately reanimated as a Wraith that only you can sense. If the wraith is destroyed but its body remains intact, it will return to haunt you within another 1d4 days. Even if you attack the wraith, other creatures will not be able to sense it. There is no visual evidence of the damage it deals to you until you drop unconscious from its Life Drain and your party members are unable to wake you. If you use the Fear effect of this bow while haunted by one or more wraiths, you must make a Constitution save or be Stunned for a number of rounds equal to the number of spirits haunting you.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed, Slow
