Weapon (handaxe), rare (requires attunement)

The Axe of Sundering Storm is a +1 magical weapon and deals double damage against constructs, buildings, trees, wooden items, and other nonmagical wooden structures or objects.

Storm of Splinters. A number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus, when you throw the axe, you can cause it to shatter mid-air into a storm of spinning spectral projectiles.

Choose a point within 20 feet of where the axe lands. All creatures in that 20-foot radius must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 5d6 slashing damage. On a success, it takes half damage. At the end of your turn, the axe reforms and flies back to your hand.

  • Returning Weapon. Whether used normally or with Storm of Splinters, the axe always returns to your hand at the end of your turn.

Proficiency with a Handaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
