Weapon (greataxe), legendary (requires attunement by a fighter, barbarian, or paladin)

A greataxe forged using experimental overkill methods that went haywire and killed the blacksmith in the process, later infused by the powers of an archmage when he dropped it on himself by accident and died.

+3 to attack rolls and +5 to damage rolls made with this axe. On a hit, deals an additional 2d6 fire damage. A hit target must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC equal to 10 + your strength modifier + your proficiency bonus. If the target is resistant or immune to fire, the save automatically succeeds. On a failed save, the target catches fire and takes an additional 1d6 fire damage. Each turn for the next 10 minutes, the enemy must repeat this throw to put out the fire or take another 1d6 fire damage.

You can also use your action to spin the head of your axe while attacking to form a 4-ft. diameter fireball that you throw for a special ranged attack roll (range 40/80). On a hit, the target suffers the same effects as if they were hit by a normal melee attack, with the exception that the slashing damage is replaced by bludgeoning damage and the magic bonus applies to the fire damage instead.

Once per short rest, you can use your action to swing this axe around you in a complete circle, making a melee attack roll against each creature within 10 feet and setting fire to the ground around you in a 10-ft. radius that lasts until you move through it. If any other creature moves through it, they must make a Dexterity saving throw (same DC as for attacks, auto success if immune/resistant to fire) to avoid being caught on fire. On a failed save, they take 1d6 fire damage. Each turn for the next minute, they must repeat this throw to put out the fire or take another 1d6 fire damage.

While holding this axe in your hands, you are resistant to fire damage from magical attacks and immune to fire damage from all other sources.

Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
