Tattered and dingy, this once lustrous cloak was originally a vibrant scarlet trimmed with elegant gold brocade, and adorned with several once radiant gems. Now, its colors are faded and its edges frayed, the gems mostly missing or smudged. It also gives off the faintest smell of ozone....and is that dragons breath? One can only wonder at what this once magnificent garment has been through. You can only imagine the most deadly....or mad, of magi would have worn such an auspicious garb.....
This garment grants the wearer resistance to fire and lightning damage. In addition, the wearer is INVULNERABLE (immunity) to any fire or lightning spell of their own casting. Skill checks and saving throws against fire or lightning have advantage as well.
If the wearer rolls a critical hit on a spell attack the cloak catches fire in a wondrous explosion of heat and light, thus casting the spell, "Immolation" on the wearer. However, the wearer takes no damage, but rather the spell is REVERSED, and any creatures within 5ft must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save they take 7d6 fire damage and half as much on a success. The spell affects any creatures within 5ft of the wearer for up to one minute. Any creatures ending their turn within 5ft of the caster must make a Dexterity saving throw. They take 3d6 damage on a fail and half as much on a success. While Immolated ALL fire and lightning spells gain an additional 1d8 damage and +1 to hit. HOWEVER, once the spell ends the wearer must roll a Constitution saving throw of 15. On a fail they suffer a point of exhaustion and take 2d6 psychic damage.
**ADDITIONALLY, If "Immolation" is activated more than once per long rest the cloak is engulfed in flames and the wearer loses ANY AND ALL IMMUNITY AND ADVANTAGE to the fire and lightning damage or saving throws until the next long rest. The immolation then acts as regularly intended and the wearer must roll the Immolation spell attack against themselves. Also, the cloak takes damage equal to the amount the wearer suffers. The cloak starts with 100 hp and CANNOT be mended unless by some ultra magical means, (mending will not work). If it falls below 100 hp the cloak is turned to ash and the wearer is scarred horrifically.**
If an enemy rolls a critical melee attack against the wearer of this cloak, it casts the spell "Hellish Rebuke" at 2nd level as a reaction. This does not consume a spell slot. (1 charge that resets after a long rest.)
If an enemy rolls a critical ranged attack, (spell or otherwise), against the wearer of this cloak, it casts "Chain Lightning"'at 6th level as a reaction. The spell does not consume a spell slot and the wearer must make an attack role. On a failed attack the spell still does half damage.(1 charge that resets after a long rest)
