Weapon (dagger), very rare (requires attunement by a Weapon (Dagger),Very Rare, Cursed (requires attunement))

This dagger is forged of silvered thorn and crystal, its blade so thin it seems woven from moonlight. The hilt is wrapped in black ivy that never withers, and the weapon hums faintly when held. In shadow, the blade sometimes appears to drip with dew—or with blood.

Lore

The Whisperfang was a gift from an Archfey of trickery to a mortal lover. But when that lover betrayed her, she cursed the blade: now, it whispers in the voice of the betrayed, coaxing its wielder into obsession, jealousy, and betrayal.

Properties

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this dagger.

  • On a hit, the dagger deals an additional 1d4 psychic damage as the victim hears a cruel Fey whisper in their mind.

Cursed Nature

While attuned to Whisperfang:

1. Whispered Voices.

  • You hear faint whispers in Sylvan urging you toward betrayal, cruelty, or secrets.

  • You have disadvantage on Insight checks and advantage on Deception checks.

2. Fey Obsession.

  • You cannot willingly part with the dagger. If it is taken from you, you will do anything—lie, steal, betray allies—to get it back.

3. Shadow Strike.

  • Once per day, when you reduce a creature to 0 HP with this dagger, you may turn invisible until the start of your next turn.

  • Curse Trigger: Each time you use this ability, you must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become Charmed by the nearest Fey creature for 24 hours.

4. Growing Paranoia.

  • Over time, the dagger seeds distrust. After each long rest, roll a d20. On a 1, you become convinced an ally will betray you, and you must roleplay accordingly until you succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw (once per short rest).

DM’s Twist

If the wielder dies while attuned to Whisperfang, their soul does not pass on. Instead, it becomes trapped in the blade as one more whispering voice, strengthening the dagger for its next victim.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
