Forged beneath a waning lunar eclipse and quenched in shadow‐drenched moonwater, the Abyssal Moonstruck Shield is a disc of darkened steel veined with silver filigree. In low light the runes etched along its surface absorb ambient glow, rendering the shield almost invisible, while under a full moon those same runes flare with pale argent. The boss is shaped like a crescent moon cradling an onyx mirror, reflecting both blows and light back toward your foes.
While holding this Shield, you have Advantage on Initiative rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks. The Shield is emblazoned with a symbol of an eye.
-
- Moonlit Barrier: In dim light or darkness, you can use a bonus action to raise the shield. Until the start of your next turn, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
- Radiant Reflection: When a creature within 5 feet hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to unleash a burst of lunar light. The attacker takes radiant damage equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.
- Full Moon Aegis: While under a natural or summoned full moon, the shield emits bright moonlight in a 10-foot radius (dim for an additional 10 feet). You and allies of your choice in that area gain advantage on saving throws against celestially-touched effects and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
- Sunscorch Ward: If you hold or raise the shield in direct sunlight, you take 1d4 fire damage at the end of each minute. This effect is negated if you’re in medium or greater shadow.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: Advantage: Initiative, Advantage: Perception, Bonus: Passive Perception, Detection, Warding
