This curiously light (10 pounds) Half Plate armor is matte black. It has shoulder pieces which curve upwards and form sharp threatening points. Under the chest piece of the armor, one can find a secret compartment where the Warlock must hide a token of their pact with their Otherworldly Patron in order to activate the magical abilities of the armor. A complex clockwork mechanism made of humanoid bones allows the wearer to shift the compartment, and also to detach it from the rest of the armor and to reattach it somewhere else. The magic of the armor can only be activated if the token of the pact is placed over the heart of the Warlock, and the design eerily adapts to all kinds of physiologies to allow this to happen. If all these conditions are met, then the armor is activated:
- You have a +1 bonus to AC.
- You have advantage on Intimidation (Charisma) checks.
- The DC to find your secret compartment through Investigation is 25.
- Once per long rest, if a creature targets only you with a spell which requires you to roll a Wisdom, Charisma or Intelligence saving throw, you can use your reaction to choose to automatically succeed on the roll (but you must decide before you attempt to save against the spell). As part of this effect, the creature which targeted you becomes Frightened if it fails a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. Furthermore, if the creature failed its save, this fear quickly spreads to others. Whatever creature is within 10 feet of the first one you frightened must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell DC or be Frightened as well. The Fear keeps spreading. Again, any failed Charisma saving throw means that whatever creature is within 10 feet of a Frightened one (as part of this magical effect) must also make the save. The Fear spreads regardless of whether the creatures in question are your allies or enemies. At the end of each of its following turns, an affected creature makes a Charisma saving throw and stops being frightened if it succeeds. The DC is 25 on their next turn, 15 for the one after that, and 8 on all subsequent turns.
