Ankh-Weave Canopic Bag (MET Variant)
Wondrous item, uncommon (bag of holding), requires attunement
A linen-wrapped satchel with lapis cartouches and a scarab clasp. A faint desert breeze whispers from within; grains of sacred sand drift in slow orbits.
Core (as Bag of Holding)
-
Capacity: up to 500 lb, 64 cu. ft. Contents weigh 15 lb total.
-
Opening: 2-ft mouth; retrieving or stowing an item is an action.
-
Air: A breathing creature inside has 10 minutes of air.
-
Rupture/extra-dimensional mishaps: Same rules as a normal bag of holding.
MET–Egyptian features
-
Ushabti Porter (1/short rest). As a bonus action, speak the item’s name while touching the bag; a tiny sand-ushabti hauls that object to your hand at end of your turn. If it isn’t inside, the sand figure crumbles (feature isn’t expended). (Sand-magic flavor nod to the MET’s desert mage. )
-
Urn-Cradle Lining. Fragile items (glass, relic urns, vials) stored inside are protected from jostling: they ignore breakage from normal falls, being thrown, or being knocked prone while the bag is closed. (Pairs with your urn-recovery arc rooted in the MET. )
-
Sand Seal (1/day). As an action, trace the cartouche to ward the mouth for 1 hour. Only you (and up to two names you speak) can open it. Others must beat DC 15 Thieves’ Tools or DC 15 STR (Athletics) to force it; on a fail, a tell-tale puff of gold dust marks the tamperer.
Notes: The Canopic Rite. Set the cartouche: During a short rest, the wearer writes their name on the inner linen tag (any language) and sprinkles in the tiny pinch of sacred sand that comes with the bag. Breath of the bearer: Hold the mouth of the bag to your lips and exhale once—this “breath” binds the space to you. Name your co-bearers (optional): Speak up to two names; those creatures may open the bag while your Sand Seal is active. Seal the weave: Close the clasp and wait 1 minute; the interior “falls away” and the bag is attuned.
