Weapon (blunderbuss, hand), rare

This alchemical weapon will deal damage over a range in front of you, causing lots of carnage.  Unfortunately , it takes a turn to load and prepare to fire.  Loading involves jamming a satchel, which is a small linen envelope containing a special mix of explosive materials (DM's discretion - can be black powder if you have it in your world) into the barrel, followed by a handful (8oz) of ammo (DM's discretion - small stones, ball bearings, pieces of glass, etc).  A bag of ball bearings (1000) contains enough for 4 shots.  Each time the weapon is fired, a percentage die must be rolled.  There is a 4% chance the barrel will crack, thus rendering the weapon useless.  This is cumulative each time the weapon is fired within a minute.  (first time within a minute = 4%, second time = 8%, and so forth)  When the weapon is first discovered, it will have enough satchels for 1d4+4 shots.  The weapon will not fire if it is wet.

When fired, the weapon will cover a 30' cone.  Those within 5' of the center line of the cone will suffer 5d10 damage, or half on a successful DEX save (DC 15).  Those at the edges of the cone will take 2d4 damage with no save.  Anyone who is in the cone and is within 10' of the shooter will roll their DEX save at disadvantage.  If the weapon is fired by someone with a strength less than 16, all DEX saves are made at advantage.

This is a two handed weapon. It will require one action to load the weapon before it can be fired, and will obviously require an accelerant and ammo.  You must fire the weapon 4 times before you are considered proficient with it.  Until then, the DEX saves are made at advantage.

Mastery of Advanced Weapons requires military training and skill. To use any of the special properties or the Weapon Mastery properties of the Blunderbuss, Hand, you must take the Advanced Weapon Proficiency feat.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Scatter. Scatter weapons can devastate multiple enemies at once. When you take the Attack action and hit a creature with a Scatter weapon, measure the weapon’s scatter range from the target’s space (or one square the creature occupies if it is Large or larger). Creatures other than the original target that fall within the weapon’s scatter range take damage equal to your 1 + your Dexterity modifier (minimum 2). This damage is of the same type you dealt to the original target.

Notes: Damage: Piercing, Ammunition, Loading, Blackpowder, Scatter (Grim Hollow)
