Armor infused with a rod of protection allows the user to cast shield as a free action at any time. Doing so creats a floating spectral shielt that adds +4 to AC until the end of the casters next turn
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.
